My name’s Elsa, I’ve been serving in the Finnish military for 3 months, and this is my call to arms against what I feel is a censorship of the female body, simply based on ridiculously patriarchal views of purity and decency at my base.

The Finnish Military’s attempts at covering up my provocative body.

I’m training to become a better soldier at my base, but it hasn’t stopped me from being a fighter here. My Captain has decided that only women need to be completely clothed all the time. The men can walk around shirtless as much as they want, but the women need to cover themselves up, lest they provoke the boys in to a frenzy.
It’s bullshit. These men are my friends. Not only that, but trying to “protect” us from their wandering gaze~~ is only going to make it more of a spectacle when they do  see something. I want institutions to stop making it seem like my chest is somehow sacred. I’d rather we hold any possible badly behaving man accountable for their actions, than me.
It’s cute, them trying to police me in order to keep me safe, but I can manage on my own thank you very much.

Despite me fighting against this with my undersergeant, my sergeant, aaall the way up to my captain, any change on this issue was denied.
